  • Data Collection and Method(s) of Use: When you complete and submit the registration form the information you entered is electronically transmitted to us.

  • Definition: Cookies are web-based programs that anonymously gather information by assigning a different identifier to each visitor that accesses a specific web site.
  • Data Collection and Method(s) of Use: Cookies collect non-personally identifiable information such as, page views and traffic patterns. By using cookies we are able to determine which web site pages are more popular than others and measure traffic patterns. We may also allow companies to present advertisements that include cookies on some of our web pages which allow the advertisers to measure the effectiveness of their ad and collect information based on the number of views and click-throughs.

  • Definition: A "web beacon" also known as "single-pixel GIF" is a counter that helps measure page views and traffic patterns.
  • Data Collection and Method(s) of Use: Virtual Marvels utilizes web beacons to count the number of visitors accessing our web site.  We also use web beacons in combination with cookies and personalized information to present personalized introductions to repeat visitors that access the same or different web pages. Web beacons may also be incorporated into html-formatted email messages that we send in order to determine if the email messages were opened and whether they were acted upon.

 

3.4 IP Addresses

  • Definition: When you are on the internet using your web browser or email application, you would be unable to open a web page or send an email without an IP (internet protocol) address to define the location of the computer that your internet browser software is requesting the web page from or sending the email to. Likewise, without your IP (internet protocol) address you would be unable to receive the web page or email from another computer. In other words, computers are able to communicate on the internet through the use of IP (internet protocol) addresses or identifiers which define their locations.
  • Data Collection and Method(s) of Use: every time one of our visitors accesses one of our web pages we receive the IP address of the visitor automatically from their web browser. IP addresses are logged into our servers with every request from a browser, and stored along with other personal information when a registration page, survey, contest entry form, etc. is filled out and submitted. The logging and storing of IP addresses allows us to accurately track the number of unique visitors that we receive; collect, analyze and deliver products and services based upon geographic trends; diagnose and repair network problems based upon IP addresses housed and/or controlled by a specific internet related company.

Virtual Marvels also uses non-internet methods to collect information including:

  • Mail Campaigns, through which information is acquired through the mail;
  • Business Partners, through which information is acquired;
  • Incoming and Outgoing Telephone Conversations, through which information is
    acquired by telephone; and
  • Incoming and Outgoing Fax Transmissions, through which information is
    acquired by fax machine.

Virtual Marvels will never give a third party access to your personally identifiable information without your permission. The information may be shared with one or more of the following:

When you submit information to us, a copy of the information will be made to prevent accidental loss. Submissions may be recorded as permanent entries in one of our active user databases depending upon the type of, and purpose for the submission. For example, a user registration for a password protected bulletin board would be saved as a record in a database of registered users; in turn, providing the user with immediate access to both the bulletin board and the personal profile for updating.  Whether a submission is for an active user database or other database, all submissions transmitted to Virtual Marvels will be saved in back-up storage files.

Virtual Marvels protects personally identifiable information that is in our possession by storing it on secure servers. We have established safeguards to protect against unauthorized access to personally identifiable information. Some of these safeguards include:

  • password-protected account information for your privacy and security;
  • industry-standard SSL-encryption to protect data transmissions from being
    compromised; and
  • security software (i.e. firewall program)

If you filled out a registration form when you made a purchase, you can update the information that you provided by signing into your account and updating your information. If you would like to be removed from our database(s) please forward a request to us via our contact form or send an email to us at: info@virtualmarvels.com.

We will do our best to remove as much of your personally and non-personally identifiable information as possible however it may be impossible to remove all information because of backups, archived records, records of deletion, colocated files etc. Additionally, it is possible that business partners with whom we have shared your information will continue forwarding you special offers and promotions; should this occur you should review their privacy policies and attempt to remove yourself from their database(s) by contacting them directly.

To discourage users from initiating fraudulent requests, we have an extended deletion period of 90 days. In most cases your information will be removed from our active user databases within 48 hours but kept on record during the extended deletion period.

Virtual Marvels does not knowingly collect information from persons under the age of eighteen (minors) nor does Virtual Marvels distribute to third parties, any personally identifiable information that is collected from persons under the age of eighteen. Virtual Marvels considers such information to be especially sensitive and will treats it as such.

Virtual Marvels does not intentionally send unsolicited email messages that could legitimately be construed as spam. Additionally, our business partners are held to the same standards. However this privacy policy does not apply to, nor is Virtual Marvels responsible for the business practices of individuals, businesses or organizations that Virtual Marvels does not own, control or manage.
